PreFix software

One app for pIR HEG and HRV training.

Runs on Mac and Windows. A clinician screen for you, a patient screen for the client, and the client's own choice of content.

Training modes

Operant

The classic pIR HEG method. The movie plays while the signal is above threshold, pauses when it falls below, and resumes when the client brings it back. The dose is measured in pause time, so you can set it to the client.

Continuous

The picture narrows, softens and quiets as the signal falls, and opens back up as the client recovers, with an earned bell on the climb. A gentler option for clients who find a stopped movie frustrating.

HRV coherence

Paced breathing at a rhythm you set, a guided physiological sigh, and a live heart-rate and coherence display.

In development

EEG biofeedback

Two-channel EEG training for relaxation, with an on-demand electrode check, built for the PreFix amplifier.

Content

  • Streaming services, played inside PreFix, using the clinic's or client's own accounts.
  • DVDs, with the disc menu and transport controls on the patient screen.
  • Your own video files.
  • Built-in scenic scenes for quiet sessions.

Streaming availability depends on each service's own terms and technology, which can change.

For the clinician

Live trace

See where the client is against their own baseline, with threshold and pause time in view.

Artifact handling

Drafts and sensor bumps are filtered so the client gets feedback on the signal, not the room. A headset-off warning holds the clock.

Session records

Totals, pause time, and a per-client history. Practices on EEGVault can save sessions straight to the client record.

Two screens or one

Patient picture full-screen on a second monitor, or a small adjustable window on a single screen.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, or macOS 12 or later on Apple Silicon (M1 or newer).
  • About 500 MB free disk space.
  • Internet connection for streaming.
  • Supported sensors: Jeff Carmen's pIR HEG headset; a Bluetooth heart-rate chest strap for HRV; PFX001 when released. A built-in simulator lets you explore PreFix without hardware.
